Wireless G network help?

I have a linksys wireless G router, and wanted to know how to share a printer on it without using a printer server. One of the computers is a new HP vista laptop, and the other is a Windows 2000 compaq computer(but it used to be xp.)

Is there anyway to be able to share an HP laserjet printer. If so, step by step instructions would be nice. P.S. the printer has a parralell and usb port, while the router has usb and ethernet ports.

  1. You need a print server to host a printer without a computer.  Or you could use a printer to share the printer, but that computer must be on to share it.

Search Printer sharing under Start >Help and it should explain how to do it, its quite simple.

  2. You can do printer sharing from a computer.  Once the printer is installed on your computer go to the printers option under your control panel.  Right click the printer you want to share and you should see an option for Sharing.  Follow the prompts there and then the printer will be available for other computers on the network to see.  Install the printer driver on the other computer and you are set.

Important thing is the computer the printer is plugged into must be turned on and in Windows for other computers to be able to print off of it.
