  1. What happens when you run Safari? What is the error message it gives you?

Ok if the iBook is connecting and Safari isn't it's most likely a router issue, try resetting your router and DSL modem, unplug both for 25 seconds, plug them back in and try it again.

  2. You are connected to your neighbor's wireless connection and you are stealing their signal.  You apparently have a strong enough signal to see them, but not to get a good connection.  Or, their security is working and you can't connect.

You really should have your own internet connection and router.

  3. Does the router have WEP or WPA turned on?  If so you'll have to give the Mac book the password that you put into the 2Wire.  Connecting to the router but not to the internet means that the radios can hear each other (wireless works by radio), but the computer can't talk to the router.  It's like your watching a TV show in a language you don't understand - you can hear it perfectly well, but it does you no good.
