I have been working away and not used my computer for about one month, today when I finally returned home to use it it doesn't work!! It won't connect to my wireless network and does not even acknowledge it in the list of networks available so I am unsure what to do! I have turned off and on many times and this has made no difference. Sometimes it does appear but when i try and sign in it says connecting and then just disappears! Any ideas of what to do will be appreciated but must be in idiot speak LOL! X

  1. This may fix your problem:

    First, shut off the computer.

Next, shut off or remove power from the cable or dsl modem.

Next, shut off or remove power from the router.

Now power on the cable or dsl modem and wait for all lights to light up (last one may remain blinking)

Next, power on the router and give it a minute or so to connect to the modem.

    Next, power up the computer.

Let us know if this works or if you get any error messages.

  2. Connect you computer with a cable to your router, or use an existing computer connected to the network. Go into the options in your router and make sure that the wireless is turned on, isn't hidden, and make sure you password your wireless.

There are guides on how to use different routers here and there. Just google your routers serial name, and follow any instructions.

  3. It sounds like your wireless router is down.  The thing that transmits/receives and is connected to the internet.  It is probably a Linksys, Netgear, or Belkin router, or perhaps something provided by the internet service itself.  Regardless, find it and reset it (just unplug the power to it for 20 seconds or so and plug it back int).  Wait a minute then see if you can find the wireless.
