Wireless Router Questions?

I was just curious. I have cable internet right now on a desktop. If i were to get a router and a lap top could i run cable internet on both computers at the same time?

For example, if I had a router, could one person be in another room on the cable internet, while I am in a room myself on the internet?>

I think thats what it sounded like, I just wanted to make sure.

Yes, to both questions.  Someone can be using a laptop in one room, while you're using the PC where the router is hooked up.  There shouldn't be a problem.  I'm hooked up to a DSL line through my phone.  I can be anywhere in my house and use my laptop while my wife is using the PC.  Have fun.
