I'm looking to put a Satellite Internet Card into a Laptop so I can have Internet while I'm away from Wi-Fi Spots. Where can I look into this and what does it generally cost per month. (I'm looking to go with Verizon.)

  1. Lots of information at these sites:

  2. What your looking for is a mobile internet card or usb adapter that ;plugs into your computer, and connects you to the internet anywhere in the carriers coverage area. Currently they are offered by Verizon, Sprint, At&t, Alltel, US Cellular (very slow), and many other medium to small sized network providers. They typically run about $60-$80 per month. (unless you have a small local carrier that provides it for less). They are usually about 60kbps to 3mbps depending on carrier and technology used. To get them, you might be able to buy them online, although I would go to your local wireless stores to buy the adapter and service plan. They will tell you if you have coverage and what speed to expect, and price. Something to keep in mind, is that many providers have a usage limit per month of 4-5GB. So this is by no means made for heavy usage.

I would check out coverage maps on the providers websites, because not all of them have the same coverage for mobile internet as they do for phones.

(These are the 3 major providers websites....  your on you own for finding the other providers websites =)
