Wireless access point resetting?

I have a linksys access point that is giving me problems. Everytime it storms the settings get reset back to factory defaults, but the thing is i unplug it while its storming so that it doesnt do that? Anyone have any advice or knowledge about this??? Help me out...

Hmmm, depending on how your cabling is the EMI could be causing it (electro magnetic interference) from the lightning if there are cables or something outside in the open.  The reason it stays when you just unplug it is because the settings are stored to non volatile memory (in cisco its called nvram i don't know what the little linksys routers call it.) its kind of like the difference between the ram on your computer and the hard drive.  If there is a surge or lots of EMI then it could cause this non volatile memory to get erased or unreadable and the router resets it self
