Wireless card problem. I have an Compac Presario V6000. Suddenly, the wireless card stopped

I have an Compac Presario V6000. Suddenly, the wireless card stopped working. I purchase a new one thinking it would solve the problem. It didn't. The cable company came to check it my connection and adivsed me that my computer does not show that I have a wireless card. The card has been checked to make sure it is connected. I can connect to the Internet with the connection from the cable box or i can use NetGear if I need to be mobile. Any hellp you can give will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Charly (female) [e-mail]
