Question:

Wireless card problems?

Couple of days ago my wireless card just stopped working. It was something with hardware because the wireless switch didn't work (it glows blue when it's on, now it glows red all the time). No matter how many times and flipped the switch back and forth and restarted my laptop, nothing worked. My bf said my wireless card burned out. I use cable now. It's been couple of days like that and 10 minutes ago it just started to work (it glows blue now).

I don't get it, what happened? Any suggestions, please, it's bugging me.

  1. You might have accidentally press on the switch on that turns your wirelss on or off, if your using a laptop their usually somewhere around the keyboard area.

  2. sometimes your computer does these things. Don't worry it's not the card. Sometime software gets buggy.

  3. Update the device drivers of your Wireless card. It may improve performance.

    Wish you best of luck!

  4. Just note, that cable is better than wireless, since it has a better signal.

  5. it means it's not associated to your Wifi network any more, go to windows device manager . right click on my computer > properties > hardware tab > device manager > make sure the Wifi network card is there and working properly > if not right click update driver and point to your installation CD. Next go to control panel > network connections > right click on your Wifi connection and select repair >if this does not work delete the Wifi network settings for your network and browse and try connecting again

  6. If it is a mini pci card it may not have been seated correctly in its' slot. It could also have been the router wireless not working, although  this should have affected any other wireless machines on your network.

  7. Try making sure its drivers are still installed properly in the Windows Device Manager (inside the System control panel).  If this is not the case, reinstall the driver.  if this is the case, then open your wireless network connections for the card and choose your wireless networks SSID, and enter a security key if your network is secure.  If this fixes the problem, check the signal strength, and if it is poor then you may need to adjust the channel in your routers settings.   If none of this fixes the problem, try resetting your wireless router or access point and/or cable/DSL modem.
