i have been having problems with my 2 notebooks ever since i added security on the router. everytime the notebooks close and go in sleep mode it disconnects. when looking in the connection page on the notebooks it shows the network has excellent connection but i have to click disconnect then reconnect for it to work just until the notebook then same c**p starts again. ive never had this problem over the last 3 years when i wasn't on secure network. the only computer that never has this problem is the pc using the ethernet cable.

  1. Have you tried turning off the sleep mode on your notebooks?  If you still lose connection then there must be some setting on the router that automatically disconnects inactive connections after a certain period of time.  There might be some default setting that could be causing it.  If are not losing connection then the sleep mode could be automatically disconnecting the system from the network.

  2. are you using wireless zero configuration to connect to the internet (windows wireless connection tool)? Please let me know.

The world icon is not the one that cooresponds to the wireless, that's the ethernet. The wireless connection is the one that has a computer with 3 little ))) to the right of it. it is lit (blinking) when there is a wireless connection. Try right clicking on your desktop going to  Properties> Screen Saver > Power> Advanced> 'When I close the lid of my portable computer' and select "Do nothing" see if that helps, btw what kind of laptops are they and what OS's (windows, ect..) do you have?
