  1. If your laptop connects to another wireless network without problems, there's no need to be messing with the drivers. I'd think the problem is with the router. Try unplugging it, waiting a minute or so, and plugging it back in. If it still can't connect, try logging into the router administration page and restoring default settings.

  2. Loggin to the routers ip > wireless tab > security > RESET.

Now some, you will have to connect an additional ethernt cable into the router and then into your computer so you can reset a password.

You might need to restart your computer to equire your ip.

  3. There are ways to reset the Modem/Router to default password settings, usually there is a 'RESET' button you'll need a paper clip to press down to wipe out the settings.

  4. press and hold down the reset button on the router. This will also reset security and ssid.

Then you can connect to it and redo your settings.

You probably just have another stored wep key and it is wrong.

  5. This happened to me. You will have to turn on your wi fi for the laptop. Then you will have to find out the I.P. for the laptop. You will have to use the main computer thats hooked directly to the router now and type in the I.P. from the other one to allow it through. If you need more help. or you didnt understand something message me.

  6. did you try changing the channel from the default channel 6

change the channel to anything else

channels 1 and 11 are first picks

make sure router ssid is not set at defaults even if to add a digit

make sure router is high and not obstructed

  7. The most reasonable answer is that the router has MAC filtering (it has a list of MAC addresses that are allowed to connect to the wireless network) , please provide the router's details so that I can tell you where to look.

You may find it as allowed computers ot Trusted devices only

(MAC address is like an IP but it is embedded in a way on all network devices and it cannot change easily). Each network device has a single MAC address that allows it to use it as a static address for networking purposes.

    Please take a look here

    http://kbserver.netgear.com/kb_web_files...

Search for --> Setup Access List

It has probably all the information you need

(if you still have problems message me)

and for gods sake why does everyone resets the router as the first and only solution

    additional:

    # Open an Internet explorer and type the router IP address which would be either http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.1.1 (by default, refer to your product documentation ti determine the default IP address.) in the address bar and press Enter.

The Login window will be prompting for a Username and Password. The default Username is admin and the default Password is password

    # Click Wireless Settings under Advanced menu

    # Click Setup Access List

    # Click on the Add button

    # Enter the a descriptive Device Name (like HallDesktop) and the MAC address of the wireless card, and click Add.

    # Repeat the last 2 steps to add all wireless clients to the allowed list.

    # When you have completed adding all the wireless MAC address allowed to connect to wirelessly with your router, Check Turn Access Control On

    # Click Apply. Your settings will be saved and only the wireless clients with MAC address listed in the allowed list will be allowed to connect with your router.

(oh by the wayyour laptops mac address is written on the downside along with serial numbers and all that)
