  1. You need a wireless router. The wireless router is a device that splits the internet. When you buy a wireless router it will tell you in a step by step process of how to install it. What you are going to do is have the internet go into the router which gives the router internet. With the box that the router came in should have a ethernet cable (the one with the clip at the end). You plug that wire from the router to the computer and thus giving your desktop computer internet. Be sure you get a wireless router and not just a regular router. Otherwise your laptop will not get internet because your internet will not be dispersed from the wireless router. Keep in mind the kind of router determines how fast the internet will be sent from the router. ie. I have a 1 gbps(giga byte per second)  connection when I had my old wireless router it cut the speed almost half (54mbps) Though this is pretty good I still like getting my entire gig. Another thing even if you get a good wireless router, your WNIC (wireless network interface card) determines how much internet you can possible get. Back to my example, though my router pumps out a 1 gbps my laptop can only get 54 mbps because that is all my WNIC can handle. Hope this cleared some things up for you.

  2. All you need is a router go with Linksys. Also check the the laptop wireless specs, there are different type of signals that the wireless card can handle (for example, G, B and N signals). If you laptop has a built in card then all you need would be the router, but if the laptop dosen't have this wireless card then you will have to buy one. The sales people at the computer store will be more than able to tell you what wireless card goes with what router.

  3. You need to buy a wireless router (cost about $30 for a cheap one). Instead of plugging your ethernet cable directly into your desktop, you'll plug it into the wireless router. Then you'll need another ethernet cable to go from your wireless router to your desktop.

  4. Most Laptops right now already have a built-in Wireless Card on it.

For your computer to work wirelessly you will be needing a wireless router (Linksys, Netgear, Belkin,D-link).

You can actually purchase one from BestBuy, Circuit City or from any computer shops in your area.

If you are not quite sure how to set it up, you can call your ISP's Tech support for the initial set up.

  5. All you need is a wireless router.  You can get it from $35 to $100 dollars, it depends on the brand that you want.  For example, the command brand every consumer or business use are LinkSys and Netgear.

  6. All you need is a router (I would go with Linksys). Also check the the laptop wireless specs, there are different type of signals that the wireless card can handle (for example, B and N signals). So check the specs on the card and depending on what it can handle get the router that transmits that signal. Majority of the times the wireless cards can handle a variety of signals but check just to make sure. If you have trouble with the Linksys router, the customer service and tech support people are great and willing to help.

  7. You need a wireless router, and you will be able to connect to the desktop too, just via ethernet cable.
