  1. Okay, as long as you have a wireless router, and your laptop is wireless, you can go into Network connections and set up your laptop to go online... you may also want to call up your internet provider and get them to setup your secure connection, as well.

  2. Do I need to pay for internet for my laptop?

    >> No. You don't need to as you are already paying for the internet for your PC downstairs.

  3. Assuming your laptop has built in wireless, you should just be able to connect if you have the necessary configuration information for your router.  If you don't have built in wireless, you can get a usb wireless device, which should connect you no problem.

  4. No u dont need just connect the router to the internet and configure it for both your systems. you will get good internet connectivity. i suggest though u take technical help in configuring the entire setup

  5. You don't need to pay extra for the Internet connection for the WiFi other than for the high speed connection you already have. Of course, your laptop should have wireless interface card compatible with your wireless router.

  6. No.  You likely automatically have the ability to connect your laptop wirelessly to your connection, the service is provided by your ISP and in this day and age, the wireless thing is a given.

Go to your main computer (the one hard-wired to the router) and go into your control panel/Network and Internet Connections area.

Run the Windows Wireless Setup Wizard, follow the steps.  Any information that it's asking for should have been provided by your ISP.

Make sure that you secure it by either creating your own security code or writing down the security code it gives you.

You are also going to specify that as the Main Computer connection during the Wizard process.

Once it's done you can check off "don't do anything else" or whatever the last option is and exit the wizard.

Now do the same process on your laptop only instead of specifying "main computer" you are going to specify that one as the secondary computer.  You'll need to input the exact same security key that you put on the first computer.

Again exit out of the Wizard once it's done.

Go back into the connections area and search for available wireless networks, yours should come up on the list.  Click on it to connect, input the security code, you're good to go.

If you can't get it to work properly you can always call your ISP and they'll walk you through the process, figure out anything that might be causing glitches.

    Hope this helps.
