Wireless internet help??

Question

my internet was working fine before but recently it just stopped working at a certain distance ... i use to be able to use it in my room but now it doesnt work in there, the thingy is in the kitchen ... and now it only works while im in the kitchen and not in any other room ... what do you think is wrong??

o i have a labtop .... a macbook and it has the airport card ... do you think it has something to do with that?

What type of place do you live in?

Is it an apartment or an area where you have others living within 300' of you?

802.11 has 14 channels with only 3 that dont overlap.  Channel 1, 6 and 11 being the better ones.  If your WAP chooses a certain channel it thinks is free, but another chooses the same one, your range will be significantly be diminishes.

Much of the time, your WAP will choose the right one, but occasionally, it doesnt see the competing system.  If you know how to configure your WAP, try changing the channel manually!

It could be the router is interfering or been interfered on my the appliances in the kitchen, i.e microwave, refrigerators, 2.4GHz phones, etc... Try to extend the wire of the router and place router  outside the kitchen and see what happens (remember away from any appliances).
