  1. go to your routers ip address > set-up tab > make sure its set to DHCP (automatic) because your ISP randomly changes their ip address on your computer, it other words its not a static ip....ps2, xbox 360 ect ect has a static ip

  2. what operating systems?

check that all pcs/laptops on the network have the same workgroup name that matches the connected pc and the routers SSID (login to your router to check the SSID):

xp: right click my computer > properties >  check the workgroup name

vista: view computer details > show more > computer name tab > check the workgroup name

  3. When you say that it isn't working on your laptop, do you mean that you can't connect to your wireless network at all? Or do you mean that you can connect to the network but can't connect to the internet?

Depending on which it is, the causes and solutions are quite different...

  4. we need more info, can you log into the router, what is make model of laptop, make an model of router, who is your internet service provider, have you a wireless connection with other PCs or is it connected via an ethernet cable. Until you provide these fundamental information no-one can give you any sensible replies

  5. If the Internet is connecting but won't display any web page, follow these steps.

On the Internet browser for the laptop, go to tools at the top of the page. From there go to Internet options. Go to connections tab. In the middle it gives you 3 choices.

    They are:

    1. Never dial a connection

    2. Dial whenever a network connection is not present

    3. Always dial my default connection

Click never dial a connection. It should work. If it doesn't, contact your Internet provider for help. They should point you in the right direction, but I believe that this will work.

I had the same problem that you have. I contacted my Internet provider, PSC, for help. They told me to try this and it worked.

    Good Luck,
