Wireless internet question. 10 points best answer.?

Ok, so I have a hp pavilion laptop. I just recently got at@t elite internet. Which is actually very fast internet. Anyways, I bought a dynext G router. And I have followed the instructions and in both connections and cd rome guide wise. And the wireless internet works, but how can i use the wireless internet without the plug that's connect onto the laptop? Everytime i disconnect it I have no internet. So how can i travel outside without that connection. It also says that wireless network is unsecure...why?

First you need to go into your router while you are connected through the LAN cable and turn the encryption on. It should allow you to manually enter  a key... you can enter some string of numbers that you will remember easily such as your phone number with the area code or someone elses phone number without the dashes - remember this number. Once you have set this up on the router, disconnect the LAN cable and go to your wireless settings in the control panel (Should be under Network Connections unless you have some 3rd party WLan software controlling it) and right click on the wireless adapter and then choose Connect to a Wireless network. You should see your wireless network in there so connect to it. It should prompt you for a key which would be the number you entered in earlier. That should do it.

first restart your comp and make sure your not connected to anything then go to the wirless icon  in the bottum right corner of your comp and press it. then search for wirless netork in range go to your connecton that your router puts out. an press connect it will ask for a network key and put your network key is (usally on your router so look for it, it is 10 numbers) then put that in the netork key and you should have interent connection.

simple get on your router with the IP the manual tells you too or the network your on. 192.168.10.X or whatever it is. you can find that out running cmd from start-->run and typing ipconfig. But back to what needs to be done go to router and either setup with an ecryption method wpa or whatever or you can MAC filter it which is a little more tedious but can be done. Anyways just follow what manual says and when looking for wireless networks make sure you connect to your whatever you named it. good luck.

Check your network settings - your wireless connection is probably disabled.  enable it.

Your router was set up as unsecure - you have to go into it's setting if you want to make the connection secure.
