My home computer has a wireless internet connection, and i have a laptop that at home also runs on the wireless internet connection. But it only works while im still inside my house, say if I was to travel to another country, is there anyway that I can make my wireless internet connection work there? I've heard of local area network and wide area networks. I've been told that wide area networks can operate around the globe, whether this is true for wireless internet connection i dont know, but is it possible for me to access my home internet connection anywhere in the world and how do i do this if i can?

  1. You will need a wireless broadband access card. The access and service is available by most wireless phone providers.

  2. To access the internet while away from home, you'd need a subscription to a wireless network.

For example, in the UK, you could use BT Openzone, The Cloud or T-Mobile hotspots. You have a subscription with one of them and that lets you use internet hotspots in coffee shops etc.

    Some hotspots allow free access.

Either way, you turn on your laptop's wireless, wait for it to find the hotspot signal, connect to it and start up your browser.

Or you could get a 3G dongle that gives you wireless access at any time.

This only connects you to the internet though, not to your home network. Once you have an internet connection, it is possible to connect through to your home network (to pick up files off your PC or something) using applications like PCremote or GoToMyPC.

  3. you try for satalite internet connection,it works around the globe but very very expensive, contact your local ISP for it!!!!

  4. no, you need an Internet card that you can have with you and be on the train, at work , in the park, or any where ... but you don't need that chances are the place you are going to has free wifi access i mean nowadays you can pretty much get it anywhere

  5. If you have access to the wireless connections..your laptop should be fine.  You have to remember that there are 3 different type of wireless connection as it pertains to accessibility..

Open.. not protected allowing any user with the matching protocols to access... some coffee shops, restaurants, hotels etc offer this type of connection.... and that also leads to my next point.

Open-but for profit.. wireless hot-spots that are available if you pay a fee, Starbucks, airports, hotels often have these available but at a cost.... although some do offer it for free...

Closed Private/Business: Similar to your home network where it is only set up for your access or access for a business's employees.

Just a reminder, not all Data Cards as mention are usable in other countrys.. they work similar to a cell phone and is highly dependant on what networks are available, type of networks and if your plan is accessable outside cities in the U.S.  Before making a purchase on one of these cards, please check with the provider to see if you have access in the countries you are visiting.

  6. no im sorry but your wireless internet will only work inside and around your house. The signal is only able to travel so far and with a super powered really expensive router the signal will only travel 2 or so blocks. A local area network or LAN is usually to connect 3 or so computers in a house or business directly so they can share files and such. If you wanted to use the internet for your laptop around a lot of the would get something like a ATT laptop connect card which is a card that slides into a slot that most laptops have. But dont fear if your laptop doesnt have this slot they also sell cards that connect via USB. Hope this helps

  7. what you are telling is a bit hard, but here is a great idea, all the cell phones companies in the world have a USB device that you put a Phone Sim Card inside it and connect it to your computer, it will connect Internet almost any where in the world!, but you should tell the Cell phone company about your travel so that you make sure it is internationally unblocked as some companies do!, you will have good internet connection!.Enjoy
