Wireless router Laptop question?

I've already got a PC downstairs with a wireless router, if i purchased a laptop with WI-FI built in could I just get the internet from the router? Would I need another phone socket upstairs?

Also, if someone was using the PC downstairs and I was using the laptop upstairs, would the internet be slower than usual downstairs on the PC?

no you don't  need a socket to get on the internet with wireless you just need the router wep or wpa key

yes if there is a lot of internet activity on one PC it will be noticeably slower on the other PC

if u get one with a card or wi fi then u would open the wireless network connection and it will show a list of connection avalible

the click to connect.

the speed depends on the router u get and if the other computer is on and what they are doing on it.

my kids get on the main one and watch videos and it slows it down somewhat.

yes, no thats what wifi is for, depends on the connection and usage if you are both just surfing and you have a broadband not likely if you are both downloading or playing online games yes but if a fast enough connection you'll live

As long as the laptop as wifi, all you need to turn is turn the laptop on, once it picks up the signal put in the password (hopefully you have one, otherwise your allowing people outside your home to steal your Internet) and you'll be all set.

We have about 3-4 laptops that work off on router, and then the desktop is plugged in.

you can use wifi from upstairs laptop,no problem its cool however if you are so far away,that mighyt cause signal weakness thus connection could come slow.....

how about get a extra wireless antena for laptop,many cool ones out there............

if someone else share that internet that could affect internet speed for sure,basically don't allow any stranger to let use it.if its not stranger or allowed person let him,in my opinion enable security WPA,its nice to take precaution against intrudors...enjoy your net!!!!
