Ok so I'm looking at a wireless router that is also a access point. So is a access point were it will receive a wireless signal on a wireless network and hook a computer up to it?

  1. It is basically an internet switch to connect multiple computer via cat5 wires, a wireless router that will let any wireless devices connect to it, it broadcasts the wireless signal, and a dhcp router to share your same internet connection to all the computers in your network. That is a really fancy one. Unless you have -n compatible cards, it will work with the regular 802.11g speed. Even the 802.11-n only is useful if you share files between computers since your inter only works at max 5 mbps. A $50 802.11g router would do the same without all the bells and whistles.
