Wireless router speeds?

i have a d link di-524 wireless router, when i disconnect it and connect to my modem directly i get speeds close to advertized-2.8 MB/sec, when i connect the router i get 1.5 mb only per sec, is something wrong with my router or is that just the way they are? Thanx

  1. Did you go into the router settings? In the router settings you can limit the speed, make sure it is set to max not 1.5mbs. Is the 1.5mbs wireless or wired? if it's wireless make sure your wireless settings are set to max speed in the router and on the laptop. I have a D-Link and it's very fast both wired and wireless. to get into the settings in a web browser window type 192.168.1.0 and you should be prompted for a password if you never set up a password just leave it blank and you can get into the settings, if you setup a password just type it and go. if all your settings are good you may have a bad router, but it's most likely just set up wrong.
