I currently have an old d-link wireless router, DI-524 that is connecting to a macbook wirelessly, the connection has been working great until 4 months ago when it now it drops intermittantly. the router and laptop are not close to each other so i borrowed a booster to put in between, it still doesn help. my cordless phone causes some of the drops, for whatever reason this did not happen 4 months ago. ive updated router firmware, if i connect via ethernet to the macbook i have no problems. even at times of day where no dishwashers, laundry machines, tvs, microwaves, air-conditioning are on it still drops, i play World of Warcraft and not have anything else running on the laptop and i still get disconnected several times, im starting to question that i should replace my modem but b4 i do i want to know anyother steps to take.

  1. First I would make sure it is in "g" only mode. Then I would try changing the channel for example if it is on 1 change to 11. If it is on 6 change to 1 or 11. A neighbor might have installed a router and be interfering with your connection.
