Question:

Wiring 2--4ohm dvc kicker s8l7 subs together?

I am wondering if I wired my subs correctly. I wired the +1 coil to the -2 coil on sub no.1 and the +1 coil to the -2 coil on sub 2. Then wired -1 coil from sub 1 to the -1 coil on sub 2. Then wired +2 coil from sub 1 to +2 coil to sub 2. Then from box to amp. Is this correct. My amp delivers 1000 watts at either 2 or 4 ohms. Didn't use a distribution block on the 4 guage power cable. Didn't think I needed it.

  1. the amp shouldnt be able to deliver 1000 watts at both 2 and 4 ohms. every amp will give more watts at lower ohm loads.

for a diagram on how to wire your subwoofers and the different ohm loads they can have, check this website. it also will provide you with a picture.

do notice, if you wire the subwoofers to a final 1 ohm load, and the amplifier is not stable under that load.. you might have problems. the amp will most likely shutoff or go into thermal/protect mode, and its capable of blowing fuses.

  2. I didnt read your full post but i have these same subs and i put mine on a 1 ohm stable hifonics amp that pushed 2000rms giving them what there rated so i wired mine down to 1 ohm.  I can show you how to wire them down to 1 ohm if you email me.  Im not sure what ohm you want to wire them too though check to see if your amp is stable to 1 ohm.
