I am installing a ceiling fan with light. There is a switch that opporates a recepticle I want to run the new fan/light with this switch .How do I make the recepticle always have power and use the switch for the fan/light. Wiring is Power to recepticle box , from the switch there is one black and one white wire running to the recepticle box the black wire is connected to the recepticle and the white is wire nutted to the black coming in and the black pigtailed to the white coming in. I have installed a junction box in the attic to run my wire for the fan and installed the box/brace for the fan. Can anyone give me some help getting this done.

  1. Disconnect the switch & wire nut the wires together and leave a 6 inch pitail in the wire nut.The plug will now be hot all the time.Tie the pigtail into one side of the switch.Fish your hot for the fan down and tie to the other side of the switch.Run it to the j-box with the neutral and wire in the fan.Now your switch will contol your fan/light.
