alright so were trying to add some lights and a power outlet to my bedroom.

what i want is another power outlet, and then 2 lights one one switch.

what i think we would do is run the wire from the panel to the power outlet, attach the black and white, and then run another wire to the switch, connect black wire to the switch, run another wire to the light and connect that black to the switch also, and splice the 2 white wires. is that correct? how do i go about wiring 2 lights though?

  1. It sounds like you have it correct.  The black is switched on/off to make the light work.  Just connect the black and white from the one light to another light.

  2. Be sure to combine the two wires in a junction box. turn off the power first. black to black, white to white, bare to bare,

  3. It sounds like you have it right so far. For the second light you just

run another black and white to the second light from the first one

and make all the splices. In your outlet I assume that you know you

have to splice the wires together also. (you didn't mention that). Also

the wires to the light go on one s***w on the switch and the hot wire

coming from the outlet go on the other s***w. Be sure and splice all

your grounds together also. Hope this helps.....25 years electrician.
