Question:

Wiring an Amp to two Subwoofers. ?

I have a Hifonics BXi1208D amp and two Rockford Fosgate P3D210 subwoofers.

The Hifonics amp is a 1200w 1-channel Mono-Block Amplifer

RMS Power @ 4-Ohm: 450 W x 1

RMS Power @ 2-Ohm: 900 W x 1

RMS Power @ 1-Ohm: 1200 W x 1

1-Ohm stable

*What does 1-ohm ''Stable'' mean?*

The Rockford subs are 10" 800W Dual 2-Ohm Subwoofers. The RMS of these speakers are 400W.

**&And how do i need to wire this up to get RMS Power @ 2-Ohm: 900 W x 1 from the Amp?***

***Does it matter if the amp is only 1-ohm stable?***

*** If i am missing something will this amp push these two subwoofers or will it just under power them?***

  1. 1 ohm stable simply means you can use a subwoofer wiring configuration of 1 ohm on your amp. Many amps are only 2 ohm stable, which means you couldn't put a 1 ohm or lower configuration on it w/o damaging it, either short or longterm.

With using the two subs you have, since they are dual 2 ohm, you can only wire at 2 or .5 ohm. Obviously you can't do .5 so here's a diagram for what you need to wire to your amp..

If you have a 1 ohm stable amp, and it offers the most power at 1 ohm, clearly you get more power from it being wired to 1 ohm. It is best to match subs to an amp at a higher ohm load. The lower the ohm, usually the hotter the amp gets. That's reason enough.

I think your setup will prove to be quite sufficient for you. Good luck.

  2. Well resistance is measured in ohms. Ohms exist to control the current. The less ohms you have, the more current you have. So if you wire the subs down to 1 ohm you will get more power from the subwoofers. The amp only says that because a lot of the amps out there are only 2 and 4 ohm stable. but, some amps. like yours, can be wired to 1 ohm for more power.

  3. First off, nice setup you have there! Second, I would say go for the 2 OHM setup at this link: http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/woofer... and take the "Steve" guys advice on the gain setup because you will be overpowering the subs a little, not too much though so not a HUGE worry, and as for the 1 OHM stable, it's a good thing, means you won't damage your amp even pushing 1 OHM (more power than 2 OHMs) which means if you wanted, you could power another sub (3 subs total) like the ones you already have with ease (@1.34 ohms which means you'd be underpowering your subs by a little) and no I don't mean to copy anything anyone else has said, or any links, I use the12volt.com ALL the time, the have a lot of good and useful info you should check out besides the wiring diagrams! Good Luck!

  4. http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/woofer... ..all the info you need here how to wire and everything else.no you wont under power them  no such thing if that were true at low volume you would be underpowering them rite? its over powering them u need to worrie about..checkout this site it shows all wiring diagrams for subs .1 ohm stable means it can run at 1 ohm stable without damiging the amp 1 ohm pushes more power ..just dont be gain happy with your amp and youll be ok..keep the gain low? steve

  5. Man youve got a pretty good system on your hands. You should do like you want and wire the subs to 2 ohms by doing this  http://www.thedeepdiscount.com/DualVoice... and using option 2. Even though you are over powering the subs you should be ok because hifonics amps put out slightly less than they are rated for and they are CEA compliant so you should be good on that end. But you might want to do a big 3 upgrade. Its not needed but it may just make things run a little smoother. Either do the BIG 3 or you could buy an external equalizer preferably the clarion 7 band eq here http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/...   it puts out 7V rms to the amp and make it sound much clear and you will be able to turn the gain down on the amp to match the 7V which will mean that your amp is working less harder to produce a better sound and use less power from your battery and it only cost 53 dollars. Good luck man IM me or email me if u have a question about anything i said.
