Question:

Wiring dual 4 ohm speakers with amp

More questions...rockford fosgate pair of p3d412s and a p650.2 amp...the amp was blowing the fuse at the battery, and it seems i might have the speakers wired up wrong. They are dual 4 ohm subs, and the amp bridged is at 4 ohms...so when i wire the subs i wire them at a 4 ohm load? also since the subs have 2 pos and 2 neg terminals on the speaker, does it matter which ones i wire from the amp, and which ones i connect together?

  1. this link will probably be easier to read than salamandors link...just enter your woofers specs and how many you are wiring and it will show you how to do it....try here http://rockfordfosgate.com/rftech/woofer...

ADDITION:George.....Uhh the other guy already told him he was presenting a 1 ohm load.Quit being a d  i   c k and quit copying peoples answer. All you did was repeat the other guys answer and you did it in a cocky way.You are not God....and thanks for the thumbs down......jerkwad and I dont care if someone reports this

  2. Yes it does.  If you are running those speakers parallel all positives and negatives run together you are presenting a 1 ohm load to that amp  on the speakers you need to run a jumper from the + on one coil to the - at the other coil then run the + and - to the amp do the same with the other sub.  This will add the coil resistance together making each sub 8 ohms but with both these speakers wired in parallel on the amp the load on the amp will be 4 ohms.  I hope this helps.

this link should give you a visual to help

  3. First that amp is not 1 OHM stabel so wiring those subs in parallel is not even an option. That could be the cause of your problems, running the subs at an OHM level that the amp can not handle.
