ok i have a JL audio 500/1 monoblock amp, my subs are 2 dual voice coil memphis 12's M3 series.. how do they need to be wired up? Dont know if this is correct but right now the positive from the amp is going to the positive on the first voice coil of the sub then another wire connecting it to the positive on the other voice coil. (same with the negative side). I really dont know much about subs and amps ha.. but they hit good hooked up like this but it makes the amp cut off and show the low ohm light. And might i add it just started shutting off a few weeks ago. Is there another way the wires need to be hooked up? thanks

  1. Your amp is seeing a 1 ohm load with your subs wired like this.  The JL Slash amps are only 1.5 ohm stable.  On each of your dual voice coil subs, you need to wire one voice coil's negative to the other voice coil's positive.  Then wire each of the remaining neg/pos of each sub to the corresponding terminals of the amp.  Your amp will still hit just as hard and your amp and electrical system will be much, much happier as a result.

  2. here are some digrams. right now you have it wired like the right side of the web page. try wiring it like the left side.
