Hi all.....this is a 2 - part question

1) I'm changing some recepticles, and have noticed there's a RED wire. I've seen some people mention bridging the hot terminals, how exactly is this done?

2) Is it possible to change a switched outlet to a non-switched outlet? If so, how?

Many thanks.
