Wisdom Teeth Not Showing Through Gums?

Okay im getting my wisdom teeth pulled tomarrow, but they arent showing. They are still in the gums. Is that normal? Do they dig them out of the gums? How? Does it hurt alot?

  1. Im not sure but my dentist wanted to pull mine out too and so I asked for the gas and she said they didn't have it, what a liar! Go to another dentist see what they say

It's not unusual for a dentist to remove the wisdom teeth before they come through.  They can tell from x-rays whether or not they are going to be crowding the other teeth and if so, they will want to remove them before the crowding starts.  I had both my upper and lower wisdom teeth removed before they came through.  They gave nitrous (gas) to put me asleep, did the surgery and stitched it up.  There was some aching afterward for a few days, but you put ice on your cheeks and take the pain pills they prescribe and you should be fine.
