Wisdom Teeth? PAINFUL?

For the last three days I have been going through so much pain that it is hard to sleep. Way at the left side of my mouth in the back, I think one of my wisdom teeth is growing in. I don't see any tooth, just a lump or flap of skin that is REALLY painful and making it hard to chew and sleep. It id worse now than it was yesterday....is this normal? Is it supposed to hurt this much? It looks kinda swollen but I don't know if that is the tooth or if it's swelling gum...I can't go to the dentist right away because I need to apply for a new dental card so I am wondering how to get rid of the pain..how long it lasts and if it's normal. Thank you anyone who helps!!!!!

  1. It's probably the wisdom teeth that's causing pain. You need to take it out before it gets worse.  I just had a wisdom tooth op 2 days ago, under LA. Only the shots are going to hurt, there after it's more of scary than painful. Mine was very deeply impacted, so there was a lot of drilling and tugging; the whole op took more than an hour. It hurts rather badly after the anesthetic wears off and even after taking pain killers, but by night time the pain begins to subside and the next day I didn't even need painkillers anymore. Hopefully you get to a dentist asap to remove your tooth, I'm sure all your problems will be solved then! Good luck!

  2. Yes that is def. your wisdom tooth.  It is probably coming in or worse it is impacted, meaning that it is stuck under the skin and doesn't have enough room to come out.  When u get insurance they will most likely want to remove the teeth.  I had mine out and it wasn't that bad.

In the meantime, take ibuprofen (its better for that then tylenol), and bet some of the gel that you can squeeze on there and numb it.

  3. It is normal for impacted wisdom teeth to cause this kind of pain, usually in response to chewing vigorously on hard foods. Favor the side if you can to reduce the mechanical pressure, and take analgesics for the pain. By favoring it and taking analgesics it should reduce the swelling and pain a bit until you get to a dentist for treatment.

  4. take your floss, and behind the flap or lump of tissue, floss very well. rinse with warm salt water. yes it is normal.  also take motrin. keep doing all your normal things such as brushing and flossing

  5. Well, that happened to me too and it was like crazy cuz it hurt sooo badly but I just too pain relievers than after that I got them orally removed like last month and now i'm perfectly fine :) but its perfectly normal and like for me it lasted for about 6 months..it was torture but after you get your dental card you should go see if you can get them removed and stuff it'll helps soo much

  6. well you can take some asprin and maybe buy some ambesol and put it on your gums. sometimes that takes away the pain, but the sooner you can get to the dentist the better.

your mouth might be swollen in that area. it does hurt alot and maybe it is growing in sideways. so once you can get in and see the dentist the better and you will not be in any more pain.

    hope you feel better

  7. I had two wisdom teeth come in at the same time, both on the bottom. They were very painful because they were impacted. I had to have mine cut out. I went through close to a year of bad pain. When it hurt more than I could bare I just used the same thing I would use for a headache. If your teeth are impacted it will hurt until you have them cut out. That really isn't very painful though. It is very normal though. I hope this helps!

  8. Wisdom teeth are very painful especially when they're impacted. I had all four--ahem five wisdom teeth that had to come out because whenever I ate, my jaw would hurt along with my sinuses.

Tell you the truth, it's best to get them taken out as soon as you can. When you don't see wisdom teeth, usually they're under the gums and they have to dig them out surgically-that's what happened to me. They become impacted as the years go by. Mine were very bad that they damaged one of my permanent teeth. I had to get it taken out to make room for the rest of my teeth. You might want to try something like ibuprofen. It helps with the pain. Consult with a doctor of how many to take. I had to take three.

Do you ever feel like you're teething as well with that lump? That lump or flap shows that the tooth could actually be growing out of the gum. That's what mine did and damaged my permanent tooth. The fifth one was actually a surprise to my doctor and I. We were expecting four and the fifth one popped in. I had them all taken out at the same time.
