What Best While Getting Them Pulled? Shots Of Novocaine Have NEVER Worked For Me. They Can Give Me 20 Shots And It Never Numbs Me A Tiny Bit. They Said They Try Gas That Day But I'm Wondering Will That Work Or Should I Get Put To Sleep? I Can Not Tolerate Pain At The Dentist. Never Have Been Able To.

Anyone Tell Ne What's It Like Getting Them Pulled. I'm Nervous & It Hurts Like H**l Right Now. I Don't Even Want To Think About How Bad It Is After (The Pain). Should I Get Gas Or Sleep Since I Can Not Tolerate Pain At The Dentist. Thanks

  1. Well they give me a shot when i got it done. And this stuff that put me to sleep. That's probably your best choice, get the sleeping stuff.

After you wake up you don't hurt cause the pain killer is still active but after a while you need to pick up your prescription of pain killer. It's not to bad if you use the pain killer prescription. The prescription they give you is much stronger than tylenol, advil, or anything else. So good luck~ Make sure to eat soft foods day 1 and 2...

  2. Ok i had them pulled last summer. This is what happened:

I wasn't afraid, i was just ready to go. Don't be nervous! I sat in the chair, they shot be in the arm with novacaine? or something I"m not really sure. Then they gave me some gas. I started getting reaallllly tired. It was nice. I started falling asleep. The last thing I remember seeing was my surgeon. He had like eight eyes! I was trippin balls.

Anyways I woke up, it was done, I had gauze and stuff and I made it home, sleeping a lot. Make sure you take your pain pills, they'll help. Don't get anything stuck in the wounds, it'll only complicate things. Make sure you rinse with hot salt water.  It will help clean it out. Wear your ice pack and stuff that will help as well. It will be over in a few short days and you'll have nothing to worry about.

    Good luck!

  3. I had the gas, and didn't feel any pain during the procedure. I was awake the whole time (like I heard the doctor ask me to open my mouth wider), and while I knew what was going on, I didn't care. It felt like I was just about to fall asleep, and I was quite fine with that. When it was time to get up, I was so doped up I couldn't stop talking to my mom, even though she had no idea what I was saying because of all the gauze in my mouth.

I was on Oxycocet for the pain afterwards, but while it was sensitive, it wasn't really painful unless I put pressure on it. I went to work two days later and I was fine. You'll be fine with the gas - just make sure you get a prescription for pain killers after the fact, because that's when it hurts more! Good luck, and don't be scared!

  4. Either way, you can't sleep through the healing process which, if you don't pay attention to the instructions you are given will hurt worse than the extractions.  I too have a low tolerance for pain, especially of the dental variety.  Sometimes the Novocaine they give you is old, or outdated and is not as potent.  Mostly, that is in the mind.  Two good shots of novocaine should really do the job.  Anytime you have to go under anesthesia it is dangerous.  Just suck it up and get them pulled.  Let the dentist do his/her job and quit whining.  It's part of growing up.  Don't, under any circumstances consume alcohol or smoke cigs after having them pulled!!  You'll get "dry socket" and that is excruciatingly painful.
