Question:

Wisdom Teeth Removed - When Can I eat real food again?

I've survived on Starbucks Coffees, McDonald Milkshakes, and Thin Soups for 4 days straight while taking road trips to Vermont and NYC, all thanks to my 4 wisdom teeth having been removed. Today I was staring at a big menu full of hot dogs, hamburgers, and pizza, and I was miserable. When can I chow down on some real food again?

  1. I had four teeth plus my wisom teeth out at once. I think I was mostly eating liquids for 3-4 days, and then started out on soft foods for the next day or so. It all depends on how fast your incisions heal. If they heal fine (with no infections), you should be good to go in a couple days or so. If you get complications, though, it's going to take a few more days.

  2. mine took about 1 and half to heal......even then it was hard for me to eat solid food from that side

  3. Everyone heals differently.  If you take vitamin C or drink orange juice, it may hurry your healing up., but, no you'll be eating in no time.  I had the same surgery, you just need to be patient.  This is the time for the ice cream and Rita's ice.  Feel better!

  4. I was older when mine were removed.  I ate soft foods for 2 weeks, because I didn't want to encourage infection.
