Question:

Wisdom Tooth Help Please?

Hi I just had my first wisdom tooth pulled and am a little concerned. I had upper left wisdom tooth pulled a couple of days ago. Since then I've been feeling nauseous, have a slight fever, and have pain in all the bones in the upper left hand side of my face. This is on top of the pain and swelling that I was expecting. Is' this normal???

Also what is the extraction site meant to look like? The hole that's left is black, but I thought perhaps that's just the blood clot making it look a bit odd?? Thanks for your help :)

  1. hey dear don't have to worry about it, you will be perfectly alright. Consult your dentist if you are not on antibiotics immediately and let him know. If you are taking medication just relax and concentrate on keeping the area clean. do warm saline rinses and brushing. the wound will still take time to heal and only thing can help it is cleaning. and yes do some exercises like opening mouth wide, side movements, blowing air etc this will help. See your dentist on your follow-up visit. keep smiling

  2. I had one wisdom tooth(right at the back of my mouth) extracted almost 4 years ago. The dental surgery went quite smoothly. There was an extraction, "cutting" of some "soft bone" and lots of blood. But after a few days, everything was ok. The flesh grew back and the bleeding stopped. You should get a licenced and experienced dentist to do the wisdom tooth extraction for you.

  3. If you have fever then i would say you have an infection. You should contact your doctor immediately for antibiotics.  And if your on meds already, then you defiantly need to let him no about it.  That can be dangerous.

  4. I had my all four of my wisdom teeth out a little while ago.

Umm..pain is expected, and so it swelling. Its perfectly normally for your mouth to be sore in that area. Everything youve mentioned sounds pretty normal. It takes 3-4 days for everything to start feeling back to normal. I didnt deal with much pain though because I was on some really good pain meds. Make sure your rinsing and if your on the medicine and it still hurts a lot and your having more problems go see your dentist right away.

Hope I was of some help =]
