Question:

Wisdom teeth extraction?

I found out today that I have to get my wisdom teeth out as soon as possible...:( I could live with that but to make matters worse, it's all four of them and they aren't even close to coming in yet. (they're pushing into the roots of my other teeth)

I can't decide when to have the procedure done. I'm going camping with OSU in the middle of August and don't know if I should do it before or after.

Could anyone describe to me the amount of time and pain that I will inevitably go through.

  1. I would suggest having 2 done at one session, recovering, then going in for the other 2. You will have severe pain, swelling, unable to eat well for several days.....in they are impacted, the pain will be worse. I would never advise anyone to have all 4 taken out at once...you need one side of your mouth's teeth to chew on, while the other side recuperates!

  2. well for 4 teeth to be removed it'll be about a week and a half at its max depending on how fast you heal and if you follow the dentist directions by not eating solid food for a couple of days. You can't really chew/bite on anything hard and your cheeks will be swollen as well. I say do it after your camp so you can eat and take memorable pics with looking like a chipmunk with nuts in its mouth :) good luck

  3. Wisdom teeth usually appear between the ages of 16 and 24.If you are not in severe pain may be you can wait otherwise you get done with it and your discomfort should not be for more than a week. 4. if u can do it within next 2-3 days it will be fine camping in mid august, assuming they rnt so diffucult to extract, if they are pulled out with surgery, 4-7 days are more than enough to eat, only 1- days small annoying feeling (no pain), surgical removal of wisdom teeth may develop some pains for 1-2 days if simple extraction, more difficult extraction takes longer time with limitation in mouth opening, swelling (not infection but called edema), if u need stitch, u need 5-7 days to rmove stitches, so its according to the situation of the wosdom teeeth, simple or difficult, wish u good dental health, and happy camping (if u send the radiograph i can tell precisely what to do, u cant contact me here or eles where)

  5. I had 4 impacted wisdom teeth and was completely knocked out of the procedure.  Give yourself a week to recover, max.  I had to go through recovery without prescription pain meds, since the ones given to me made me sick and my oral surgeon wouldn't prescribe any others.  I also got dry socket in one.
