Wisdom teeth only on one side?

well i have a crowded mouth, and before i got braces the doctor took out 2 wisdom teeth, only on the right side, the top and bottom. but i have both on the left side. is this normal? its realllyyyy bugging me.

  1. Not the least bit abnormal.  If you were able to straighten out your teeth, and you're not having any other sorts of problems, while still having your left wisdom teeth, then there's simply no reason to remove them.

    They may not be the most useful things in the world, and for some people they can really cause problems, but there's no point in surgically removing a body part if it isn't doing you any harm.

    Myself, I've had one wisdom tooth removed, and that only because it was completely sideways in such a way that it created a potential dental infection issue.  The other three don't give me any trouble at all, so there's just no point in getting rid of them.

Usually, you'll end up with all wisdom teeth removed by the time you're in your twenties.  If the right side wisdom teeth were actually showing, but the left side was not, that would make sense.  Maybe he didn't want to remove impacted teeth.  If all four teeth were up, I can't imagine why all of them were not removed.
