  1. If you followed your post extraction orders and are taking an ansaid like advil, ibuprofin, you may still have some soreness.

Pain needs to be evaluated by the doctor who did the extraction, call the office...they may very well tell you to come in so it can be evaluated further. Don't second guess this, let a professional decide.

  2. It can take up to a week, sometimes even a little more. Take painkillers like Motrin or Advil, it will take the pain away.

  3. Probably not, depending how invasive the surgery was. If they had to cut them out, you are in for some pain for about a week. If you think it is unusual, call your dentist. They can help decide if you need to be looked at for infection.

  4. it should go away very slowly i would say 2 weeks to fully recover

  5. nope,

  6. It took me about 2 weeks before I was feeling completely better. Just keep rinsing religiously with the salt water and take it easy. Don't jump aboard the solid food train too fast, or it'll slow your recovery. Let your body heal itself and sleep a few more days =)

  7. You get about 3 days worth of prescription pain relievers, then you are supposed to switch to ibuprofen (motrin, advil etc). The ibuprofen also helps the swelling as it is an anti-inflammatory. By the 4th day a few Ibuprofen should be enough to get through the day, although everyone is different.

If you have been smoking, using a straw, anything that creates suction in your mouth, and you are in a lot of pain, you could have a dry socket. Although they can give you pain relievers, nothing really helps the pain of a dry socket. This is where the suction pulled out the clot over the socket and it is extremely painful.

  8. absolutely not. sadly I had pain for about two weeks. I just took the medicine they gave me and laid in bed for most of the day.

  9. Noooooooooooo.  Very painful, you have a few days to go probably

  10. No it will take about 4 or 5 more days to be totally good.

  11. no i think a person stays in pain for a while at least a week

  12. Ok so this isnt answering your question.. this actually has nothing to do with your question. But you posted an answer on my question about how to cope with the death of my dog.

I really couldn't decide on who to pick for the best answer and this is just a little thank you message I'm sending to everyone who answered, just so they know that every single persons answer helped me. (Besides one rather rude person >;l)

I could never decide on who to pick for the best answer and completely forgot about voting so eventually the best answers did not get picked by me. (But your answer got voted best answer anyway)

So thank you for taking the time to answer my question and help me through this difficult time.

P.S sorry but this was the only way i could contact the people and most of the people didn't even have any open questions. D: Oh and would you happen to have a photo of your old dog ebony? My E-mail is foshizzlechizzle@hotmail.com if you do :P

    Thanks again.

  13. theres not really a time you should or should not feel pain, it just depends on how quickly your mouth heals.

  14. You could have some pain that is still lingering, especially in the jaw area just because you had to have your mouth open so wide. If your pain is actually increasing as the days go by, you could have a dry socket. Please click the link I have provided for an explanation of this condition.

  15. I didn't hurt very much at all when I had mine done.  Take some ibuprofen.  It will probably take up to 2 weeks until it starts to feel normal again.

  16. If the pain has worsened then it could be infected but if it is getting a little better than yes, it is totally normal.

  17. no
