I had my 4 impacted wisdom teeth removed 2 days ago, the swelling is only bad on one cheek and only on the bottom does it hurt, why would only one area hurt and the others feel fine? Any suggestions on how to get the swelling down other than ice? I have to work tomorrow and im nervous about the swelling looking horrible. Also how does the pain usually last? Also i have had a headache since the surgery is this normal?

  1. you are actually doing pretty good considering it was only two days ago. I recently had all four of mine removed and I was in bed for a week.  My Dr. told me to put warm compresses on my cheeks though (not cold) to reduce the swelling and to rinse with warm salt and water.  It seemed to have worked.

  2. Try cooking vanilla and peanut butter they both worked for me

  3. I'm in the same boat as you. I had my wisdom teeth out (all 4 impacted also) 2 days ago and I have had extreme swelling on both sides of my mouth so that now I look more like a Wii character than myself. The pain should only last a few days, so if you're taking your pain pills as prescribed the pain should be gone by the time you run out. My postoperative instructions said to do both warm and cold compresses. I haven't tried the warm compresses yet because the cold ice soothes the pain in my jaw. The swelling is supposed to be at its worst the 2nd and 3rd day after the surgery and then it's supposed to gradually go down (I hope so too, because mine is pretty bad!). As far as your headache, the pain pills should probably be taking care of that so if they aren't maybe you should call the doctors office and see what they say. I've had periods where only one area hurts and the others feel fine, and then later it will switch to another area so I think this is normal. I hope this helped but if you still have questions you can definitely call your oral surgeon/dentist and ask them anything you need to know. Good luck, and you're not alone!!

  4. I uggest putting ground clove on the gums where the pain is. It will numb down the pain and stop the swelling a little bit. And yes headaches are normal beacause you just got something yanked from your head!!
