Question:

Wisdom teeth removed Monday, constant vomiting through Friday?

I had all 4 wisdom teeth extracted on monday. I received Novocaine and Nitrous Oxide (laughing gas). The doctor gave me Vicodin, Ibuprofen 800mg, and an antibiotic. I haven't been healing well, it's been 5 days and I haven't been able to eat much & when I do eat it doesn't stay down. Last night I went to the ER because I hadn't been able to stop vomiting since Monday and I was completely dehydrated. They gave me 3 bags of saline drip and some meds via IV for nausea and swelling. I haven't vomited since I was discharged, but I still don't feel ready for food and can't take any meds until I eat. Is there anything else I can do for the pain and swelling in my jaw besides the meds? Or does anyone know of something I can do to completely erase the nausea? I regret very much my decision to get my teeth removed. When my oral surgeon finally called me back his only advice was some ground ginger. Help!

  1. my cousin had his wisdom teeth removed, and he had the same prob. unless your gums and teeth clean, then  bacteria gets in your gum.

  2. I got my wisdom teeth pulled out earlier this month and luckily for me I didn't have a problem. For the nausea make sure you are not swallowing any of the blood. That was what made me feel sick. Also make sure your taking all your medicine with something in your stomach. If your taking your meds on a empty stomach that can make you get sick. For the swelling put a cold ice pack on your cheek. Do 30 min. on one side of the cheek and 30 min. on the other. Feel better!

  3. f that that better not happen to be i get mine out the 19th... 6 days before school starts for me

  4. The nausea could be from the medicines....

  5. I had an absess.  Is it possible you do?  Did the doctor give you this "injection"-like thing that squirts water in the back of your mouth?  That shot-thing releases trapped food.  I had an absess and it was the pits.

  6. You're more than likely allergic to the painkillers.  My fiance was too, and when he stopped, he felt much better.  You should stop taking them and switch to regular Tylenol, rather than Ibuprofen as it's extremely hard on your stomach.  Also, force some food into your stomach.  You may not be hungry now, but some comfort food will help calm it down.
