I had my wisdom teeth removed a week ago. I didnt have much pain at all. But with in the last few days Ive had throbbing pain near my ear. Ive got a low grade fever and my eyes feel warm, also my nose is stopped up and sometimes runny. Does anyone know what I should do? I thought it might be dry socket, but my teeth or gums dont hurt. It only hurts the jaw bone when I breathe in air. Last night it hurt real bad except it eased up when I put heat on it. This morning when I woke up there was no pain, but once i got outside it started again. It seems to come and go. Any one have advice? Thanks in advance for your help.

  1. Contact your oral surgeon/dentist immediately - you don't want to mess with dry sockets! This term is used to describe a condition that can develop in the empty tooth socket. If a blood clot does not form properly in the socket or is lost prematurely, the bone can be exposed. Exposure of the bone to the oral cavity, foods and saliva, can result in a localized inflammation or infection called alveolitis. It is acutely painful but responds immediately to proper care. Dry sockets are easily treated with the placement of a medicated dressing into the surgical site.
