OK So I am supposed to have all of my wisdom teeth out on Thursday....... but was diagnosed a week ago with mono...is it a bad idea to continue with the surgery? My doctor said she doesn't think its a good idea because the stress of the surgery can cause mono to reactivate?? I don't know...what do you guys think?

  1. I'd wait

  2. WAIT check with oral surgeon guy and wait a few weeks if he says no.

  3. dont get the surgery.

    wait until you are better

  4. I would call my Dentist and ask him.He will be able to tell you if it safe or not.

  5. I think that you should listen to your doctor.

  6. You call the ortho surgeon, ask. If he gets mono from you, he'll sue! He can tell you if/when you should have the surgery. In this case, he's not lookin to make a buck.. but you don't want to give it to him, either!

  7. 1. if your doctor says so, he's probably right

    2. stress can cause you immune system to weaken which could trigger a reaction, and you don't wanna have recuperation from surgery and mono at the same time you'll feel really terrible, believe me, mono is just as bad as it is.

    3. though mono is a virus and you can't be "cured" from it, so WHEN are you supposed to have the surgery if not Thursday, you can trigger a mono reaction anytime in your life now.

4.mabie having a mono reaction and recuperating from surgery might be bad, but having mono and having your wisdom teeth come out the natural way is worse (the risk of having your teeth shift is too great especial if you had/have braces or other dental work

  8. Why on earth would you take the advice of internet strangers over a medical professional?!

    That's silly.

Your body is already compromised by the mono, surgery is a bad idea until you are recovered.
