Question:

Wisdom teeth with no dentist?

Up until a couple of months ago, I have had no dental insurance (and no dentist). I'm starting to feel pain in my lower jaw behind my back teeth, and I'm pretty sure I can feel a tooth growing. It hurts like h**l!

How can I have this tooth checked out if I have no dentist right now? I've called around and it seems like dentists only schedule you months in advance :( Thanks for your help!

  1. Thats not normal to have to wait for a couple months for an appt, try your best to call around as much as you can

Go in as an emergency patient most offices leave slots open during the day for these types of appts

the exam should cost no more than $100 w/o insurance

if it is ur wisdom tooth they will prob refer u to an oral surgeon in which case most of them offer financing so you would not have to pay everything at once

usually though if its a simple extraction for one tooth w/o insurance should be no more than $200

  2. Schedule the appointment, even if it is a few months away. Dental offices commonly have cancellations so they may be able to put you on a short list and get you in if something comes up sooner.

In the meantime, make sure you keep that area clean. As the tooth is growing in, you get all kinds of food and bacteria under the flap of skin and it can cause a lot of irritation, even infection. Take a teaspoon of salt and dissolve it in a cup of hot water (as hot as you can stand to drink). Hold it in your mouth on the side of the tooth that's bugging you for a couple of minutes. Spit it out and do it again. Do this at least once a day. The salt water will help draw out anything and help with the irritation. If you think you do have an infection, you may be able to get some antibiotics from a walk in clinic to hold you over until the appointment.

  3. Omg, I have the same expect the problem!!!

Oh gosh. I'm dying over here it hurts so much... I can barely eat. I dont have a dentist right now either :(
