  1. phone your Dentist.

  2. I had a lower wisdom tooth out 1/2 year ago. The op was painless. Local anaesthetic wore off 4 hours later, +/-, area very sore, sore throat, difficulty in swallowing and danger of biting my own cheek/tongue meant extremely soft meals for 2 days or so. My cheek was swollen. I drooled for a bit. Hilarious to my children! Very important for the blood clot to remain there to help the healing process. Dry socket doesn't happen very often, dentist told me.  Follow dentist/doctor's guide lines re rinsing with warm salty water. Don't eat hard things (to let your jaw recover), crumbly things (that can get into the wound) & sticky/sweet things (eg. chocolate) for a while. Ice cream was wonderful. What I found strange is that about a week afterwards when the wound started to heal nicely I started to get real "face aches" in that side, needing pain killers often. I was told it's the body responding to the trauma but otherwise all was going well. Do go to the doctor when in doubt. Good luck, it will pass...

Below is a link which also explains dry socket.

  3. If your doctor hasnt phoned you to check up on your healing process I recommend giving him/her a call. I had 5 out at once, and like you I had an extremely sore throat. My surgeon told me it was because of the dryness from the long procedure and that it should go away once i started having more and more liquids and soft foods.

I looked like I had been punched in the face (all over) and had bruises. Are your gums going over your teeth? Its normal to be swollen (especially two days after). Have you been using icepacks to reduce swelling? They are good for the first 3 days.

My face was swollen for about 2 weeks, and i continued to have some swollen cheeks and gums for a little while after that. I didnt have any pain thankgod just discomfort (tender to the touch). But about your other questions call your Doctor, have a chat, he might want to have a look himself. I had 6 stiches, god it was horrible when they pulled them out, they were really smelly. If you have a "blood clot" looking thing in/over your hole where your tooth came out dont wash this blood out, it will help prevent infection.

I was given exercises, which were.

    1) Opening up your mouth gently as far as it could go and release (do up to 5 times a day). and

    2) Smiling

    Stops stiffness.

  4. It can ache for a few days, but try moving your jaw,so that it doesn't stiffen up.If it's no better by Monday,or is worse tomorrow,go back to the dentist.

  5. Ah I'm having my wisdom tooth out next week...am nervoud now!!

    What's dry socket?

Does it hurt? Have never had any fillings, caps, and dental work...

Sorry I'm not much help to you! Lol
