Wisdom tooth problem! Help!?

I had my wisdom tooth taken out 4 years ago. This week, I once again have deep pain where the tooth use to be. I can actually see something white poking through the skin on my jaw. How could this happen? Is it possible some of the tooth was left behind? I'm getting xrays today but I wanted to see if somebody else has ever had this problem! Thanks for your help.

Oh my gosh!  That's scary.

Perhaps some of the base of the tooth broke off.  Could it be bone?  Probably not.

I went in to a dentist to be referred to a place called "Dental Arts" where they put you under to remove wisdom teeth.  The dentist told me that I won't need them pulled for seven more years or so.

I wish I never listened to that guy.

ooman . i've never heard of such a thing . my wisdom teeth haven't grown . i'm eighteen .
