Wishfull Thinking to challenge Sanctuaire in Williamhill.com Desert Orchid Chase Grade 2
Wishfull Thinking will have a difficult feat to achieve in the Williamhill.com Desert Orchid Chase Grade 2 at Kempton in England on Thursday, December 27, 2012.
There is no doubt over his ability to walk away with success in the class-1 contest, but things will not be easy for him. He will have to weather the storm from some of the other high quality performers, who have lined up for battle against him.
One of those stallions is, Sanctuaire, who has been rated as the outright favourite to succeed in the race. He is in terrific form right now and has always been competitive over fences.
Therefore, it will be extremely difficult for his opponents to prevent him from finishing first at Kempton. He will not be concerned about the heavy ground, as he has appeared in quite a few rain affected competitions.
Moreover, the French challenger has got a very good stamina, which will help him make a strong impression over 2 miles. A victory will earn him a cash prize of £25,628 at the end of the day.
The Paul Nicholls’ trainee has been given a general starting price of 11 to 10, which clearly suggests that most of the punters will be gambling on him more compared to others. This will put him under just a little pressure, as everyone will be expecting
him to dominate the proceedings.
He has appeared in a total of four chase events, winning three of them whereas secured the third spot once. He started off with three back-to-back victories in this format, but failed to keep the momentum going in his most recent outing.
Therefore, he will need to put things together this time around otherwise his rivals will exert immense pressure on him.
Wishfull Thinking will be waiting for an opportunity to take the lead at Kempton. He too has been given a decent starting price, but things will not be easy for him at the end of the day.
The Philip Hobbs’ trained gelding has got a lot of experience while chasing, as he has entered 16 of such competitions. His strike rate is not bad, as he has succeeded in five of them whereas finished as a runner up on the same number of times.
Importantly, he was victorious in his most recent outing under jockey, Richard Johnson, who will once again be alongside him today.
