Wisnu Yuli Prasetyo ousts H. S. Prannoy in second round of Vietnam International Challenge
Indonesia’s Wisnu Yuli Prasetyo displayed sensational performance as he stunned his higher ranked opponent H. S. Prannoy of India in the Men’s Singles second round of Ciputra Hanoi Vietnam International Challenge 2012 on Thursday, March 29, in Vietnam.
The un-seeded Wisnu showed his elevated craft as he played with impressive control and overpowered Prannoy, who was the fifth seed in Men’s Singles draw of the tournament.
Wisnu was in incredible form in the court when he played dominating badminton and ended the match in three games by taking 60 minutes.
On the other hand, Prannoy could not continue his winning run in the tournament as he failed to play positive and planned badminton against the spirit Indonesian and crashed out in the second round.
In the opening set, Prannoy was in commanding position as he played controlled game and dictated his rival in all corners of the court.
The lower ranked Indonesian tried to find his rhythm but failed to manipulate the loopholes of his Indian opponent in the opening half.
Until the one-minute break, Prannoy was going slightly ahead of his challenger on the score board.
After the break, Wisnu executed attacking shots to level the score but failed to destroy the defence of his opponent. He remained struggling in the first set and lost it with a margin of 16-21.
In the second game, the Indonesian surprised everyone by playing on a different level. He controlled the pace of rallies from the opening points and managed to push Prannoy on back foot.
Until the break, Wisnu was dominant in the game as he was far ahead of his higher ranked opponent on the score board.
After the break, the in-form Indonesian continued his elevated performance in the match and won the second set with an impressive 21-12 score on the board.
In the decider, Prannoy tried to dominate the pace of rallies but lost his focus in the game and committed many unforced errors.
On the other hand, Wisnu was completely focused in the game and managed to bag it with a convincing margin of 21-15.
Wisnu became the winner of this well-fought three-set contest with an entertaining margin of 16-21, 21-12 and 21-15.
