  1. It's not based on any TZ episode, but it does have some TZ elements.

    For example:

The trumpet from "A Passage for Trumpet" can be seen in the display while exiting the libraries.

As the ride comes to a stop in Florida the slot machine from the Twilight Zone episode "The Fever" can also be seen.

Also as the ride comes to a stop the flying saucer from the Twilight Zone episode "The Invaders" is hanging from the ceiling.

    :o)

  2. its not based on an episode. it was a story/concept that was developed after the series ended. many years after. but because there was such a curiosity about the story, Disney made a movie based on the tower of terror. it went straight to video and i have never seen it so i cannot tell you if its any good. here are a couple of trivia facts...

in the library before going into the line for the ride, there are different props that appeared in different episodes. they are on the top of the bookcases. there was one episode where there was a bank (not the building but the container where you store your coins) with a devil on it. if you put in a coin and made a wish it would come true but with horrible consequences. well if you look up, you will see that bank. or one just like it.

there is a story (don't know if its true or just Disney legend) that the original concept for Tower of Terror was to make an actual haunted hotel. (electronically haunted of course) but after trying to come up with concept and realizing that it would be difficult to make it scary and family friendly at the same time, they gave up on that idea and made the ride instead.

  3. It is not based on an actual episode.  However, the imagineers watched every single episode at least twice to get the feel of the Twilight Zone for the ride.  And they display a few actual props from the show.  http://allears.net/tp/mgm/m_tower.htm

They also made a Disney Channel movie about it AFTER the ride was in Disney World.  It occasionally airs on Disney Channel.
