  1. depends on the box.....if everything is the same...box, amps, car....its still hard to say.

if the x-max of the single sub is..say...2" and the x-max of one of the others is 1"...then the air movement would be the same so the cone area would not be a factor anymore. the sensivity could come itno play as well. a sub more sensitive will take less power to get as loud as another. the box will be the biggest determining factor.

  2. Not enough information to tell.

How loud a setup is is based on a lot of factors.  More then just power.

Everytime you double the cone area you will have a 3 db increase.

Everytime you double the power you will have a 3 db increase.

The efficiency of the sub(s) is also a huge factor in how loud the sub will be.  A sub with the efficiency of 93db will only need half the power as a sub with a 90db efficiency to have the same loudness.  So if you are powering a 90db efficient sub with 1000 watts then you will only need to power the 93db sub with 500 watts to achieve the same loudness.

The enclosure is yet another major factor of the loudness of the sub.

    Good Luck!!!

  3. cone area always wins over power rating in car audio. Example: you could have 2 12" Kicker CVR's which are 400 watts RMS VS. 1 15" Kicker CVX which is 1000 watts RMS and win. more cone area. THIS ONLY WORKS WITH SIMILAR TOTAL POWER RATINGS

  4. the more air you can move, the louder it will be usually. So if you had one 12" woofer at 900w rms vs 2 12" at 400w rms I would go with 2 woofers rather than one. Moving more air that way. But it really comes down to woofer vs woofer and the brands. Because it is not uncommon for a better woofer and better brand to spank multiple woofers.

  5. i would do the 1 in a nice ported enclosure. i have taken out guys with 2 12s and i had 1  alphasonik 600 series 10. with double the power. there is alot to take into account but most likley if its done right you can be louder with 1 than waisting box. room in vehicle and money on the extra sub. hope this helps
