  2. The most reliable source is still literature, although there are some credible websites.

    For knowledge on philosophy, principles, ritual and workings read;

    Janet and Stewart Farrer

    Doriene Valiente

    Marion Green

    Gerald Gardener

    For history on the craft and folk customs read;

    Ronald Hutton.. Triumph of the Moon & Stations of the Sun

    For magical and folklore traditions read;

    James Frazier.. The Golden Bough

    For Goddess Worship and myth

    Robert Graves.. The White Goddess.

    For more occult and hermetic studies try;

    Israel Regardie

    Alister Crowley

    Most of these authors are available from good reference and lending libraries. They are established classics in the modern witches bookshelf.

  3. Your best bet is to research as much as you can. These links should be helpful:

    The following sites gives good lists of recommended books:

    http://wicca.timerift.net/book_recommend...

    http://www.tangledmoon.org/reading_list....

    And this site gives you a good list of authors to avoid:

    http://www.branwenscauldron.org/communit...

    Other than that these sites should be of use to you, they cover a wide variety of topics, so at least some of them should be helpful to you.

    http://www.occultclub.mirrorz.com

    http://www.ladyoftheearth.com/2nd-page.h...

    http://wcc.on.ca/faq/faq1.html

    http://www.fortunecity.com/roswell/chane...

    http://www.sacred-texts.com/bos/index.ht...

    http://cauldronofannwn.com/temple/lesson...

    http://www.geocities.com/astraeaaradia/h...

    If you want to chat please feel free to email me, I've been a Witch and Pagan for about 7 years now, so I should be able to answer most questions.

  5. There are lots of books you can read to get a start on Wicca/Witchcraft. Two of my favorites are: To Ride A Silver Broomstick, by Silver RavenWolf; and Wicca: A Guide For The Solitary Practitioner, by Scott Cunningham. In Silver's book, she "leads you step-by-step through the various lessons with exercises...", and she lists other books to read to help you along your path. Scott's book is another very valuable tool.

    You can also visit many websites that can guide you. Email me, and I will give you a list of some of the ones I have in my favorites list.

    I am also a member of various web groups where I have met very interesting and informative people. I can give you those links as well.

    Wicca isn't something you are "cut out for". It is a religion, a way of life, and you must believe, like any religion, or it just won't work for you.

  6. From one witch to another ;) there's an awful lot to learn if you are serious about this. I recommend a good book, as the internet is full of c**p (and a loonatic or two) although there are many good sites. Just type wicca in google, or maybe beginners wicca. Links are below. As for books, I can't recommend Silver Ravenwolf and Fiona Horne high enough. They are definatly the best 2. To start out I recommend Silver Ravenwolf "To Ride a Silver Broom Stick", which covers all the basics. "To stir a magick cauldron" and "to light a sacred flame" are the follow ups and will cover rather alot. "WITCH- a magical journey" by Fiona Horne is also great. You can't learn everything from one book, or even from books as there is an awful lot that you can learn, but that's the fun of it. There's always something new to discover. Anyways, I have waffled enough, just contact me if you want any more advice and good luck. :)

  7. Your best bet is to read and study the different types of religions (Wicca, Pagan etc) and find out which one is for you, and if none of them are take the parts of each that you like. Rather than coming on YA your better off reading all the books you can find and theres a million and one websites on the subjects. Find out what works for you, because no one else can tell you.

  8. read scott cunningham books and get looking on google

  9. Merry Meet Elinor,

    There are many legitimate sources out there today. One being Witchvox at http://www.witchvox.com/, they have many links for mentors or even a Coven, Circle or Grove near you. If there are none near you, you could look into getting online training through the Sacred Mists at http://www.workingwitches.com/wicca/cour... or OZ Wicca at http://www.ozwicca.com/ , both are pretty decent for learning the Craft on the Web.

    If all else fails, get your hands on Wicca for Beginners by Thea Sabin and/or The Circle Within by Dianne Sylvan. Both of these books are very good reading and both will give you some deeper insight to the Craft and how it relates to you.

    I hope that this information helps you out.

  10. hi,

  11. You must not get yourself involved in witchcraft. This is because it gives demons which are very evil creatures the opportunity to enter into your life and try to destroy you. I repeat again do not become involved in those things. If you ignore my warnings and anything bad happens know that Jesus Christ can help you. Take care!!!

  12. Ok.  So you have decided it isn't a fad.  That is good.  Now learn some stuff --

    First, how old are you?  If you are a minor, the learning part will probably be a little more difficult since most pagan groups don't take on students until they are 18 (at least not without parental permission).  I suggest going on http://www.witchvox.com and looking for your state -- sometimes there are teaching covens listed.  Alternatively, your local witchy store (witchvox lists stores too) may have classes you can attend.

    Search for good books. There are many good ones... don't read just one author or one path... this is an opportunity for you to discover your path and, of course, there are many.  If Wicca is of interest to you try http://wicca.timerift.net/ they have an excellent Wicca 101 page that will give you a clear understanding of the religion.  Another place to research on line is http://beliefnet.com with their ever popular Belief-O-Matic quiz http://www.beliefnet.com/story/76/story_... .  It can help you sort out the direction you'd like to pursue.

    I do hope you know that witchcraft is not what it is made out to be in TV or movies... you don't blow things up or make people disappear or get the love of your life to obey you unquestioningly.  Like fire and money the Craft is to be handled responsibly and with good judgment.

    good luck in your research and finding your path

  13. first  dont think of it as witch craft, and dont think of it as a way to get what you want,

    all spells are prayers, all greeds wont succeed, and if you really want it to work, dont let it be somthign to only help you, use it to help a friend, your family, nature or your god/dess

  14. Just google lots of witchcraft pages and stuff. They can give some good info on it.

    Also, you should go and buy books on witchcraft and spells or witchcraft for beginners.

  15. You need to think really carefully about whether you want to do this. I got into witchcraft and it scared the h**l out of me. If you are not emotionally and mentally stable enough for it it can seriously cause you harm. If you don't know anything about it then i suggest you don't do it. If you are interested in it, then look it up but take it lightly and be safe

  16. I advise you to learn as much as possible about the Craft. There are many good books but also many very silly ones. Witchcraft is a spiritual commitment, not a means of getting power or doing tricks, as some assume. You will need to get to know yourself very deeply as you are the only one who can find your true path.

    I suggest you start by looking at the Pagan Federation website, www.paganfed.org. It gives a fairly comprehensive view of Paganism and witchcraft as well as some links to forums and local groups. Always treat everything and everyone with a pinch of salt. No-one can tell you what to believe, that's up to you, but many will not have your best intentions at heart. Always attend meetings in public, preferably with a sympathetic friend. I could tell you some stories that would make your hair curl!

    Check out books by Kate West, Marion Green, Janet & Stewart Farrar and Rae Beth. They are quite informative and sensible. Similarly the Valley forum and ukpaganlinks are good places to meet fellow pagans.

    Blessed be,
