Do you forsee them putting in an application to be eligible to play in an expanded Super 14. I know Argentina have always wanted a team in the then Super 10. Do they have a chance now.

  1. JoeBlow, catch a wake-up, mate. The Springboks scored eight tries against tougher opposition than any of the other 'big' teams (excluding France) faced this week-end.

All these tries were scored by the backs.

  2. I agree entirely with roadtrip088 .

That would be a far better option, the Northern Hemesphere Rugby style of play would suit South African teams much better.Big lumbering forward orientated game ,battering their way into the opposition half to try and kick drop goals or penalties. There is great rivalry between the Aussie and NZ S14 teams, the games are entertaining, lots of skill shown ,with very little foul play, whereas, South African games are slow drab ,stop start affairs, full of niggle. An Argentinian team could make an expanded Super 14 Comp.more exciting, while also being good for their development.

  3. How dare you compare Argentina with Namibia!? The Pumas´ve been ranked 6th or 5th since ages, and i dont know where Namibia is

Anyway, there is not enough support in clubs here in argentina, because the stupid crowdes prefer dullball (Football soccer).

  4. There's no room on the calendar to expand the S14, unless we clip teams from each contributing nation. And I reckon a Pacific Island team should get a shot before Argentina. More likely that Argentina would jump at the 6 nations before S14. Most of their guys are already playing club rugger in France - so easy transition.

Definitely don't want to lose RSA from the S14 - I know what Joe blow is saying though - RSA can be frustrating - but lets not blame one coaches game plan on the nation - Jake White will be gone after the world cup - even if they win it (and they are one of the few serious contenders) RSA rugby can grow and evolve.

As for Nambia - mate, your dreaming.

  5. Argentina deserves to be in the Tri Nations or, even better, swap Argentina for South Africa bc SA seems to be pretty dissatisfied with the SANZAR agreement, they should go join a NH competition as they are in the same time zone and the Argentines should replace them, i know some of the the Argentinian stars like Pichot have said they would take a pay cut to play in a professional side in Argentina bc they want to held develop the sport there

  6. for rugby in general argentina and namibia need to play in better competitions....

argentina should play in the tri or 6 nations

or at least be allowed to have a team in the super 14

  7. Argentina definately deserve to be there, I have no idea who they currently play against in season ?

  8. I agree with Blouspook!

To Joeblow: do I detect a hint of sour grapes that no NZ or Aus team even made the final in the Super 14.

Anyway, I think the Tri Nations should include Argentina, it would be great for Argentinian rugby and might help them develop into a world force in rugby!

I don't think they should be included in the Super 14 though, the SA, NZ and Australian rugby schedule are full enough as it is and Expanding the Super 14 even more will more than likely wear the players out!

  9. argentina-yes they've always been internationally competitive

namibia-no ireland were rubbish and remember they lost 142-0 in 2003
