With Casey Mears leaving who do you think will join hendrick motorsports?

They already have Gordon, Johnson, and Dale Jr. Who else do you think could come that's at the end of there contract. I would love it if ryan newman came.

If I am not mistaking, Tony S.'s contract is up at the end of the '09 season. sooo its not going to be him. Plus Tony wants to take lead on a cup team, and be in the mix of contenders. I think it would be foollish of Mr Hendrick to bring in 4 of the biggest Dawgs in Nascar, and have them all under one roof.  HMS has only 2 wins this yr... JGR has 6 (i think) and 5 are from a driver he employed last yr...hmmmm....

If anyone goes to Hendreick,  I would like to see,

Aric Almirola, I really think that kid has talent, and needs to be around some vets to get him up to par

Many are saying that Mark Martin will come out of semi-retirement to drive the #5 in 09 with 1 last charge to win a Cup Championship.

Other rumors are that Mark Martin & JR Motorsports Nationwide driver Brad Keselowski  will share the ride next season

Well it has been rumored that Mark Martin will be going there next year but....we dont even know for sure if Casey Mears is leaving for real.....but they said that if mark martin joins it will only be for one year...at a last chance to make the chase and contend for the championship running a full season..but if marks contract is only for season then that would leave someone open for the 2010 season and guess whose contract ends in 09'....Tony Stewert's and wouldnt that be quite the team...Gordon(best driver ever) Jimmie(amazing driver) Dale Jr(good driver and most popular)and then Tony S.....thay would be a great team and hey maybe tony wants to get back in a chevy....cause unlike their teammate kyle...denny and tony havent been doin very well.....so...i really dont know but i dont think that it will be martin trex bc he hasnt really done nething...and i like casey mears and i understand (if rick gets rid of him)where rick is coming from...bc its his job to make sure that all his teams are running for the championship....and caseys team is the only team not in the chase(Dale 3, Jimmie 5, Jeff 6)but i feel bad for casey but hey maybe the news that he will be a free agent next year will help him bc yesterday he finished in the top 5....so

Has Hendrick or Mears said they're not returning next year?

Remember, they did this c**p with McMurray a few weeks ago. The media loves to stir c**p up.

If this does happen, I will have lost all my respect for Mr. Hendrick, it's the Crew Chief's fault Casey is doing so bad, not Casey.

Casey's had two consecutive points finishes in the top 15, one of those in crappy Ganassi equipment, and another after being a hair out of falling from the top 35. When Casey does good nobody says a thing, but when he does bad people want his head. I'll never get that.

EDIT: To answer your question, I bet it'll be Martin Truex if Mears gets replaced. Why would you throw away Mears, someone who can drive decently and doesn't care about the fame like his teammates do, for someone who doesn't even wanna race full-time?

Casey Mears and Mark Martin look to be on the move, and their futures might be linked.

Mears’ future with Hendrick Motorsports appears in jeopardy, ESPN.com has learned. Although Mears has one year left on his contract, team owner Rick Hendrick would not commit to the driver of the No. 5 car beyond this season.

I believe this is a great chance for stewart to get in with the super heroes of nascar!! That would be even more of a team to recon with.. I always thought that jr and stewart would make good teammates..I would really love to see it happen, it would really be the iceing on the cake, plus it would put him back in a chevy and get him out of that crappy toyota that he never wanted to be in anyway.. So for myself and all you other tony stewart fans , we should all pole for tony to go to hendrick motorsports to be one of the elite!!! So Tony get out there and be the best you can be...

Rumor has it that Mark Martin will join HMS next year. Martin had the opportunity to race a full schedule this year with DEI, but he chose not too. So, I can't see him wanting a full schedule next year. I am predicting Mark and Brad Keselowski to share a ride next year. Brad will get some Cup experience, and Mr. Hendrick will see if he will be ready for the full time ride in 2010.

I Think That it will be Martin Truex Jr  although DEI Honored his extension for one more year like everyone said if he has the Chance to Leave DEI and Opt out of that Extentension they believe that Martin Truex Jr will Take it and I think that He will go over Hendrick in the #5

It has been reported that Mark Martin will make one last attempt at running a full schedule and try to win a points championship in the cup series.  He will drive the #5 car for HMS that is being vacated by Casey Mears.  I would agree with you on Newman, he would be a long term solution to the problem that Rick has had with trying to field 4 cars capable of contending for the championship.  Maybe they have a plan to put Tony in there for 2010, if he honors the last year of his contract at JGR.

Lets start with Newman. I do not think that he will be with Penske next year. Kurt Busch is having the same issues. Moving over to Gibbs would be a great opportunity for both of them. Gibbs has enough personality and I think that he would help to sooth the bad boy blues. Gibbs does not have a great Nationwide program so moving someone up is not going to happen YET.

I think that Tony will try to opt out this year seeing he has one final year on his contract. Tony is looking for his own team and his best friends the Harvicks are in a good partnership position.So look for Tony's next ride to be his.

Mark Martin would be a great candidate for a duo with Keslowski. Gordon just resigned so the next for them is Brad.

Just do not forget that Childress has the General Mills open seat next year.Anyone say Matt Kenseth?
