With Prince Fielder gone to Detroit Tigers, Texas Rangers unfazed – MLB News
The Texas Rangers’ general manager Jon Daniels stated on Tuesday, January 24, that Detroit Tigers’ signing Prince Fielder will make the team tough, but it will not affect the Rangers’ outlook. He was responding to the questions regarding the impact that
Fielder’s induction to the Tigers’ has.
"Detroit is going to be tough," Rangers’ general manager Jon Daniels said from the Dominican Republic. "It doesn't change the way we feel about our club."
Detroit Tigers have undeniably solidified their offence now with the $214 million signing with Prince Fielder. The team which could surge through the playoffs the past season will feel confident to take on the rivals with more energy this time round.
However, the Texas Rangers are also imbuing with confidence; exhibiting what at best, can be defined as their determination to win the World Series this season. The experience of qualifying for two consecutive finals and subsequently losing them has taught
a large amount of lessons to the team.
Thus, to attain the targets the Rangers have set, the team is now focusing on ensuring the long-term presence of their best players. Josh Hamilton is one of the players, the hitter par excellence, whom the Rangers will want to have on a long contract as
he will be a free-agent after this season.
But while the team’s intention is well-known, Hamilton has no idea about what is happening on this front. Expressing his optimism for a good future, the player says he is not worried about it.
"I haven't heard anything," Hamilton said Monday night. "I'm not worried about it. It always comes back to trusting in the Lord. He'll have me where He wants me to be. That's why I'm not stressed out about it."
Rangers’ assistant general manager Thad Levine knows what contribution Hamilton has made throughout his career. So does every Texas Rangers’ fan. Thus, it will be interesting to see how the club goes about it with the passage of time.
Time, there is no doubt, will be of crucial importance now. Thus, what remains to be seen is how the Rangers deal with the ever changing dynamics.
